How it works
What do you gain from spiritual fitness?
How it works - spiritually speaking
1. We ask each of our Trainers this question:
‘what will my life look like in 6 months if I commit to these Practices?’
This is what some of them said:
John Cassian: ‘You will begin to see ‘glimpses of union with God’. You will find that you have a ‘purified vision’ that no longer organizes reality by your own intelligence, but perceives it from within a union with God.’
St. Benedict: ‘Your heart will be ‘enlarged’. What felt like ‘roughness and pain’ at the beginning will be transformed into ‘ineffable sweetness of love.’
St. Leo: ‘You will find true peace and true freedom’
Amma Syncletica: ‘Your heart, which may feel like a rock, will be changed into a spring of water’
2. We asked Trexo gym members
How their lives have been changed by participating in the Practices.
This is what some of them said:
Repetitive prayer such as praying the Rosary centers me! It quiets the mind and brings me closer to God. As you focus on each bead and the words you move from hands to heart.
- Judy
I’ve relied on the Jesus Prayer for 40 years not knowing it was “the Jesus prayer “. I had read about monks who reached a higher state of consciousness when meditating and repeating “Jesus son of God have mercy “. I found clarity with the practice and have continued it throughout my life. I probably say the prayer 20 times daily. It helps when I wake in the night with leg cramps, and this prayer along with YouTube videos has gotten me through countless DIY home repairs. Lord Jesus, son of God have mercy. 🙏🙏🙏
- EP
I must have said the Jesus Prayer a thousand times during Lent. I gave up four video games that I played addictively for a long time before Lent. They would settle help my brain down. But I found that saying the repetitive prayers served me so much better.
Instead of counting sheep, I count Jesus prayers.
They bring me closer to God and soothes my soul.I also attended the Saint Margaret's retreat. I enjoyed sharing with our fellow DOK sister's how calming the Anglican Rosary can be.
I made it [from 9pm] through 6:00 AM during the Easter vigil. It was humbling to pray with Christ through the night.
Then doing the Stations of the Cross the following day. And then the joyous Resurrection.
Thank you Fr. Cathie for all you have done to bring me closer to God.
🙏 🙏 🙏
How it Works - practically speaking
There are four ways to participate in the Trexo Practices:
1. On your own
The Daily Anchor Practices are short, simple practices you can do every day, wherever you are. You don’t have to go to the desert. But you do have to practice.
This is where closeness with God becomes a daily reality.
Start with ‘Hearts Up!’
The Sursum Corda is the oldest, most universal element in Christian worship. It’s our orientation towards God.
It’s also proof that even if you’re practicing by yourself, you are never alone. You are part of a Christian community 6 billion members strong - and stretching over centuries.
2. In online community
Gym members (paid subscribers) join us for Coffee with Coaches Wednesdays at 3:30pm Eastern - sitting down with early Church Fathers and Mothers and asking: how do I actually do this in my life?
Comment, share, and ask questions.
AND…
Create your own Trexo Workout - or Rule of Life (see Benedict above for more about that…).
The process begins by filling out the Trexo Intake form - and getting a customized spiritual training program from Fr. Cathie.
From here, build into a committed pattern of Practices to center your life with God.
3. With your congregation or community
You can join with a congregation or other community and participate in the Trexo Practices together. You can gather your own, new community of practice. There’s even a discount for groups (email us for details).
The Weekly Rhythm Practices - Sabbath and Eucharist - are inherently communal. They anchor you in the life of the Church.
But all the Practices lend themselves to group participation - like saying the rosary together (the Jesus Prayer), or lifting hands in prayer (Bodily Prayer).
You were made for more.
More peace, more direction, more grounding, more purpose. More JOY.
Get started stretching and strengthening your soul.
